Article Blog: 5/22 "Bones: Custom cushioning helps heal a bad break"
Surprise:
I was reading the article "Bones: Custom cushioning helps heal a bad break" when I was surprised. I was shocked to find out that people are working on having an inflatable bladder inside of casts. I was surprised because I knew there are boots (for broken bones) with something like an inflatable bladder. From this I can learn that things are going to build off of other things. Ex. An inventor comes up with the drone idea. Two years later someone comes up with the idea of drones carrying people.
Summary:
This article talks about how to help the healing process of broken bones. The article "Bones: Custom cushioning helps heal a bad break" talks about having an inflatable bladder inside casts to prevent the it from being too loose or too tight. Two teens are working on that idea and have presented a prototype. The small computer on the outside of the cast controls the bladder and would be on the setting that the doctor recommends. This article was on how to make broken bones heal faster.

Backward-Looking:
There was only one thing that I knew that had to do with the article before I read it. The one thing I knew was that there are boots with something quite close to an inflatable bladder. Now I know that teens are working on putting an inflatable bladder in casts. They have presented a prototype and working on making them. As well as that, they are working on separating the bladder into different chambers. I learned a lot of things from this article.
Inward-Looking:
I choose this article because this year only I have had two injuries that involve broken bones. I was hoping this article would give me some information on how to help my arm heal better or even faster. Even though this article didn't give me any information on how to help my arm heal faster and better it was very informative. This article taught me why an inflatable bladder inside a cast is important. "Bones: Custom cushioning helps heal a bad break" was so interesting and taught me a lot.
Outward-Looking:
I think this article will affect the future and make a big impact. The information in the article will determine how broken bones heal and more. The inflatable bladder may help keep the the bone in one place, help it heal faster, and maybe even massage the foot or arm. The article said if the inflatable bladder could be separated into chambers they may be able to add something that could massage your ankle or arm. The information in the article will definitely affect how broken bones are treated.
Forward-Looking:
I would really hope there is an expansion on this topic because it is very interesting to me. If the two teenagers were to start making the inflatable bladder part of casts I would love to see how it would work. The article mentioned having a massage chamber in the cast, I think they should see if they could get it to scratch an itch instead. I think scratching an itch is better because in a cast you cannot itch your arm or leg, I know this from personal experience. This article was very informative and I would love to hear more.
