Severe Weather Project Reflection

Image
Summary: In this project I was partnered with Jessica and Sydney and we did a news broadcast. I enjoyed working in a group and pretending to be news broadcasters. My favorite part was filming the broadcast. News Broadcast Link- https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bw-L7c75wuHrdHNkUzdCb3ZoTmc/view?usp=sharing Backward-Looking: One problem that we kept having was scheduling a time to shoot the news broadcast. First we were going to do it last Wednesday then last Sunday then this Wednesday, but since the weather was nice on Monday we got to shoot the broadcast.  Another problem we encountered was actually shooting the broadcast. It took us many times until we could finally get the film right. Inward-Looking: Our goals did change as we worked. Jessica, Sydney, and I would try really hard to finish the goals we put on our goal setting sheet. If we didn't finish we would assign ourselves homework, but if there wasn't a lot left we would carry it on to the next day. If we finished

12/12 Severe Weather Project

Image
Summary: This week we are doing a project and I am partnered with Sydney and Jessica. We are doing a news broadcast on floods and droughts. A flood results of many days of any form of water precipitating.  A drought is formed of less rainfall and dry weather for a long period of time. Backward-Looking : Three resources that were helpful were www.ready.gov/drought ,   www.ready.gov/floods  and www.weatherwizkids.com\weather-rain.htm . The website about droughts was extremely useful because many weather websites didn't talk about droughts.  I would use weather wiz kids again because it had many sub-topics on the one type of severe weather. The other website had fun facts about how to plan and prepare for the kind of severe weather which was a nice extra tip. Overall most of the resources I used this week I would like to use again. Inward-Looking : I really am happy that we get to do a news broadcast. I am happy I get to work in a group and build my collaboration skills

Water Cycle 12/5

Image
Summary : I learned about the Water Cycle and how important it is to weather. The Water Cycle has an effect on weather because it creates snow, hail, and rain. When there is less pressure there are cloudy skies and when there is high pressure the skies are clear. The ingredients for clouds are humidity, condensation, and sudden change in air pressure(high to low)  Backward-Looking : Last year I learned about weather, but we concentrated on different types of weather and very little on the water cycle. We did not use any scientific terms while I studied this topic in the fourth grade. Now I know the main scientific terms of the Water Cycle and they are : accumulation- large bodies of water that is stored over time like oceans seas and lakes, condensation- a process where water vapor forms into clouds,  evaporation- when liquid water droplets form into water vapor,   precipitation- water falls from clouds in the form of rain snow or hail, surface runoff-any form of water that flows ove
