Article Blog 5/15: Puppy Love
Surprise:
I was reading the article "Puppy Love" when I was surprised. I was amazed to find out that there is something called the cuddle chemical also known as, oxytocin. It surprised me because I would have never thought that there would be such thing as the cuddle chemical. From this I can learn to expect the unexpected. Ex. A girl in the 3rd grade reads an article on dogs. Two years later she reads another article on dogs and it has new information that she never expected.
Summary:
The article is about the bond between two species, humans and dogs. "Puppy Love" talks about the cuddle chemical, oxytocin, which is a chemical in you that motivates bonding and interacting. The scientist Miho Nagasawa and his team conducted many experiments to test the cuddle chemical. The tests showed that the cuddle chemical level for both humans and dogs increased when the human pet, talked and looked at the dog. When the human just looked at the dog the cuddle chemical level only increased in the human. This article was about the cuddle chemical and how it works.

Backward-Looking:
I didn't know anything to do with the article before I read it. Now I know that there is something known as the cuddle chemical. The cuddle chemical is inside your body and encourages interacting. Oxytocin is able to increase in dogs and humans. I learned a lot of things from the article.
Inward-Looking:
I chose this article because I love dogs. I thought maybe some scientific facts would help me convince my parents to get me a dog. I saw the article title and knew I wanted to read it.This wonderful article taught me all about oxytocin. This article was interesting and taught me so much.
Outward-Looking:
This will information will definitely affect future. This information will determine how dogs and people interact in the future. They may be able to communicate and understand each other better. In the future, dogs could be trained differently than today, because of this, they would be able to help more people. This information will be used in the future.
Forward-Looking:
I have one idea the author could expand on. I think the author should talk to the scientist to see if he will be conducting anymore experiments related to the topic. I would suggest seeing if the level of the cuddle chemical would not only increase, but decrease. If the scientist does conduct more experiments I would love to see the results. I really hope he expands on the topic of oxytocin.
