Summary:
My group and I continued working on our map until we thought it looked good. We added a legend showing what the symbols and colors mean and traced the words in black pen to make them easier to see. After that, my group and I thought It would be best to split up; Minh Anh and Ashley work on the counter argument while Gabby and I work on the script for our video. Even though we parted ways we all pitched in and did some extra research together. Throughout the research my group and I discovered that Braxton would be the best city in West Virginia because it has the least natural hazards in its past. While writing the script we realized that it was hard to make an actual advertisement that was funny and informative, so we have an introduction and a sequel. Gabby and I didn't want our video just to be talking on and on about West Virginia, so we thought it would be nice to compare it with another state that has more natural disasters, Texas. Even though our script isn't completely finished we all thought it would be nice to state some weather facts and how they come into play with natural disasters. Not only did our group want to make a video we made an electronic poster with some information on West Virginia just in case. We planned to shoot the video over the weekend and check our counter argument against the rubric next week. Our final day of the week we watched the rest of the top ten natural disasters video. It really helped me understand how destructive natural disasters can be.
SP6: Constructing explanations and designing solutions
I constructed an explanation of natural disasters in West Virginia and Texas when I was writing our ad campaign video script. We wrote about what natural disasters occur where and are going into why they occur where they do. Although for the counter argument we defended ourselves, but also wrote how these 7 natural disasters occur.
Earthquakes form by plates, underground, rubbing against each other: When the tension releases it causes an earthquake.
Tsunamis form by the displacement of water masses caused by earthquakes.
Wildfires are caused many ways, some are human carelessness, lightning, or volcanic eruption.
Blizzards form by when warm air rises over cold air and forms a warm front.
Hurricanes form by warm ocean water, the atmosphere has to cool off quickly. Also, the wind has to be blowing in the same direction and the same speed force air upward.
Thunderstorms are formed by moist and unstable air, as well as lift.
Tornadoes form by thunderstorms, you need cool dry air and warm moist air. When the two air masses meet it forms a tornado.
