Summary:
My partner, Ashley, and I continued our research on different natural disasters for our
project. We researched tsunamis, winter storms, and earthquakes giving us good information to use for our project. Here is the natural disaster, the "ingredients", and where it occurs:

Winter Storms- Caused by a warm front.Warm front- When the warm air advances and pushes the cold air.
Can occur in the east coast towards the north and east Alaska.

Earthquakes- Caused by tectonic plate movement. When the plates move apart or rub against each other.
Can occur anywhere, but earthquakes are very common in the west coast.

Tsunamis- Caused by earthquakes or violent volcano eruptions.
Can occur on the west and east coast, really anywhere there is an ocean nearby.

After we finished our research we were put with another pair, Minh Anh and Gabby, to combine our research to determine the safest place in the United States Of America. We started off by writing all fifty states on a document. Then, we wrote down all the natural disasters each state has out of the seven natural disasters we researched. After that, we labeled a USA map with what natural disasters occur where. The coming week we are hoping to color it in, create a legend, and determine a specific city in the state we determined was the safest, West Virginia.

SP2: Developing and using models:
I used models to explain and predict behaviors of systems, or test a design as my group and I created a map to show where natural disasters occur in the USA. I labeled the map with the initial of the natural disaster. We will color code it and include a legend to make it easier to understand. This map helped me understand where specific natural disasters occur. The map will help us explain where the most natural disasters occur and where the least natural disasters occur.
