Matter and Its Properties 1/30
Surprise: I was surprised to find out that plasma is a state of matter. When I was reading about matter it really shocked me when it said that plasma is a state of matter. It was surprising because even though I knew there were more than three states of matter(solid, liquid, and gas), it still shocked me because I have heard of plasma just not as a state of matter. I can learn that there might be more to what you already know.
Summary: This week we learned more about matter. We learned about the states of matter (solid, liquid, gas, plasma, and Bose-Einstein). We also learned about atoms (what makes up matter). As well as that we learned slightly about compounds and mixtures. We learned a little about the periodic table too. Now I know so much more!!!
Backward-Looking: I knew a little about this topic before we started. Now I know that there are 5 states of matter instead of 3. Now I know it's not only solid, liquid, and gas, but there is Bose-Einstein and plasma too. I also know that the rows in the periodic table are also called periods. And that the columns are also called families or groups. Now I know so much more about matter and the periodic table.
Inward-Looking: This week I found some things really frustrating. Something I found frustrating is that we didn't have much time to do certain online worksheets. What I thought was especially frustrating was how we only had one day to do the atomic theory worksheet. What was't as bad was the the matter worksheet, I was so glad to have three days to do it. Even though some of this week was frustrating, most of the fun things make up for it.
Outward-Looking: I did some of my work like others, but some individual. Most of the work I did individual because it is an individual project. Although our table helped each other out. Some of them helped me and I helped some of them. I feel like as I help I get better and better at science. I was pretty individual even though I got and gave a little bit of help.
Forward-Looking: I would redo the work, especially the first worksheet. I would redo the first worksheet so I could finish earlier so I would have more time for the second worksheet. Then I might have been able to do some of the last worksheet of part 1 and then I wouldn't have much over the weekend. I would reread the articles because then it would make more sense and I would understand it better. Overall there is some work I would like to redo, but I was happy with my work this week.
