Rocks and Minerals 3/6

Surprise:  I was searching up facts about silicon when I got surprised. I was surprised to find out that silicon has several other uses than computer chips.  It was surprising because computer chips were the only use I knew and its very commonly known. I can learn that there could be more to what you already know. Ex. A boy knows that silicon is used in computer chips. Next year he has to do a report on silicon and for uses he puts computer chips. He gets one point off for not having all the uses or least more than one. He could have searched it up and found that silicon is used as a semiconductor, a combining element, and it is used in tiny lasers.

Summary: This week we were all working on our My Pet Mineral Project. I was researching all about my mineral, silicon.  After I got all the information I needed I put it all on a jilster. I formatted and made look its best. I learned not only about silicon, but about other minerals that have to do with my mineral.

Backward-Looking: I knew about rocks and minerals and a little about silicon, too. I studied rocks and minerals last year so I did know all the ways to test a mineral, which helped me slightly. I knew some one of silicon's uses and a small background on silicon, but I did not know that much. I learned silicon's physical properties, varieties, and how it is formed. As well as that, I learned some interesting facts. I knew somethings that helped me this week, but I did learn a lot.

Inward-Looking: This week I found one things really frustrating. What frustrated me the most was when I searched up certain things they would not give me an answer to what I searched up. It was really frustrating, but I did really learn how to rephrase. I eventually found all my information after about 7-10 tries, but it was worth it. There were some frustrating things, but some very fun things.

Outward-Looking: This week I did a small amount of my work like other students. I did a small amount of my work like other like other students because no one was doing the same mineral as me. Even though no student had the same mineral as me I did give and receive some help. I got help in the way to search certain things to find a good answer. I helped by helping people search things up too. My group and I helped each other with good fonts, backgrounds, and ways to write on jilster. I gave and took some help, but either way I learn more.

Forward-Looking: If I had a chance to redo the work I would. I would work a lot more on My Pet Mineral ] at home. I would do that so I have more time to work on my jilster. If I had any extra time then I would use it to format and make sure that it is the best work I could do. If I had the chance I would redo my work to have more time, but I did finish and I am happy and proud of my work that I did this week.
